Which Tummy Tuck is Right for You?
Are you living with excess skin and fat on your abdomen, causing the dreaded “belly pooch”? If you have been hitting the gym without seeing desired results, a tummy tuck may be able to help. However, which type of tummy tuck is right for you? Read on to learn more about the tummy tuck options and techniques that are used today.
Tummy Tuck Options
Many people are not aware of the different tummy tuck options available to them. However, there are three tummy tuck techniques that can be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon. These include a full tummy tuck, a mini tummy tuck, and an extended tummy tuck.
Full Tummy Tuck- A full tummy tuck, also called a traditional tummy tuck, is the most popular type of tummy tuck and addresses excess skin and fat on the upper and lower abdomen. This procedure eliminates excess skin and repositions the belly button. Weakened or separated abdominal muscles will be corrected. Liposuction may also be used to further contour the abdomen.
Mini Tummy Tuck- A mini tummy tuck is done to treat small bulges of fat and sagging skin on the lower abdomen. Unlike the full tummy tuck, the mini tummy tuck does not address skin or fat above the navel, and the belly button is not repositioned. Liposuction may also be used during a mini tummy tuck to contour the area.
Extended Tummy Tuck- An extended tummy tuck is a more extensive version of the full tummy tuck, and is done to remove significant amounts of excess skin and fat often caused by massive weight loss. Incisions will be extended around the hips to the lower back, and excess skin and fat will be removed from the abdomen, hips, and buttocks. The navel will be repositioned to an appropriate position. Weakened or separated abdominal muscles will also be restored.
