Look and Feel Your Best with Michigan's Preferred Board Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon
PRFM or platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix hair restoration is a non-surgical hair restoration treatment for patients experiencing unwanted hair loss that has been growing in popularity. PRFM hair loss is a fantastic substitute for more invasive methods such as full hair transplants. This option for hair restoration is also more natural and avoids the use of any foreign chemicals.
PRFM used in this procedure is the patient’s own blood, processed down to be a more platelet concentrated version of the plasma. Platelet cells encourage hair growth, reversing inactive hair follicles back to active hair follicles to rejuvenate the patient’s hair. Due to the fact that a patient’s own blood is used, this reduces the change of irritation or adverse reactions.
Most men and women that are in good general health and have signs of hair loss are good candidates for this treatment. One of the best attributes of PRFM hair restoration is that there is little to no chance of allergic or adverse reaction since the patient’s own blood is being used.
To begin the treatment, the practitioner will harvest blood from the patient. Once collected, the blood is spun in a centrifuge device that separates the blood from the plasma. This makes a very concentrated substance full of growth factors. Once the plasma has been processed, the platelet-rich formula is then injected into the patient’s scalp. Since the plasma is administered as an injectable, there is no need for anesthesia or some sort of anesthetic. Because of these factors, downtime is minimal or not necessary and patients can go about their day shortly after treatment.
After PRFM Hair restoration, you will begin to see results 4-8 months post procedure. However, for best results, Dr. Trupiano may recommend that you repeat the treatment every 1-3 months to maintain the results. PRFM hair restoration may not be a permanent solution for those suffering from considerable hair loss. Scheduling a consultation with Dr. Trupiano is the best way to find out what your specific treatment process may be like.
