If you’re generally in good health and have a realistic goal for the look you wish to achieve, you may be a good candidate for plastic surgery. It is important to have an open and honest dialogue with your doctor regarding your medical history and your expectations for the procedure(s) you wish to have performed. Dr. Trupiano believes in a team based approach to plastic surgery, where both the patient and the surgeon work together to achieve the best possible results.
With the exception of certain reconstructive procedures, cosmetic surgery is typically not covered by health insurance. We offer payment options through care credit (http://www.carecredit.com/) and accept all major credit cards.
At our office, we charge $100 for a consultation fee, which is applicable towards your surgical procedure. “But why charge a fee?” you ask. The answer is that we believe that you get what you pay for. A consultation fee is meant to compensate for a quality, expert opinion that can help you make the right plastic surgery choices. It also ensures your appointment time. Learn more about why we have a consultation fee here.
It is recommended that you quit smoking before the surgery in order to lessen complications and increase the rate of healing. The longer you go without nicotine before the surgery, the better. Dr. Trupiano may ask you to cease taking certain medications before your surgery, particularly those that increase your risk of abnormal bleeding.
All major procedures are performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, and more minor procedures are performed under local anesthesia. You should not feel a thing during surgery, and while there will be some discomfort during recovery, this will be easily managed with prescribed medication.
Your recovery time will depend on the type of procedure that is performed. There will be some level of swelling after the surgery, which should fade relatively quickly. You will have some pain during recovery, which will be easily manageable with prescribed medication. Dr. Trupiano will advise you on when you will be able to return to work and normal activities. You can learn more about recovery time for each procedure by browsing to that page within our website.
There will be some scarring. Dr. Trupiano has extensive experience and training to minimize scarring by promoting good before and after care measures, and locating the scars in inconspicuous areas. You can help to reduce post-surgery scarring by proper nutrition, avoiding tobacco use, and by following your doctor’s instructions to aid in a quick recovery. Ultimately, the positive results of the surgery will be more noticeable to you than any minimal scarring that you may see.
