What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure to treat sagging or creasing in the forehead and brow area. Dr. Trupiano surgically tightens the tissues of the upper face and forehead to rejuvenate your appearance and restore a naturally youthful facial balance and vitality.
A brow lift can:
- Correct forehead sagging
- Reduce wrinkles and frown lines
- Reduce furrows between the eyebrows
- Improve facial balance
- Correct an angry or tired appearance
Brow Lift Surgery in Troy, MI
A traditional brow lift involves a longer incision on the forehead and the removal of excess skin. If you have more advanced signs of aging, a traditional approach may be the best option for you.
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that offers the same tissue tightening as a traditional brow lift. While Dr. Trupiano can tighten the muscles and tissues of the brow during this procedure, he cannot remove excess skin.
Dr. Trupiano offers two types of brow lift surgery: a traditional brow lift or an endoscopic brow lift. Dr. Trupiano will guide you toward the best choice for your goals and anatomy, but both approaches provide patients with a refreshed, more awakened appearance.

Brow Lift Procedure Overview
On the day of your brow lift surgery in Detroit, you will arrive at your surgery location and be welcomed by friendly, highly trained staff who will help prepare you for surgery. Dr. Trupiano will review your treatment plan, mark your forehead for surgery, and give you time to ask any last-minute questions. You will then meet with your board-certified anesthesiologist. A brow lift is performed using local anesthesia and sedation.
Once you are fully sedated, Dr. Trupiano will make carefully placed incisions. If you are receiving a traditional brow lift, Dr. Trupiano will make an incision across your forehead that will be nicely concealed in your hairline and conscious of future hairline recession. In the case of an endoscopic brow lift, Dr. Trupiano will make multiple small incisions in the hairline and use an endoscopic camera to see and tighten the tissues in the forehead.
Both brow lift procedures allow Dr. Trupiano to lift and tighten the tissues and muscles beneath the skin. Then, he will excise any additional skin and close the incisions with sutures. If indicated in your surgical plan, Dr. Trupiano will also perform complementary procedures like a neck lift, facelift, or eyelid lift at this time. Depending on your unique surgical plan, brow lift surgery can take between 1 and 3 hours.
What to Expect from Your Birmingham, MI Brow Lift Recovery
Because brow lifts are outpatient procedures, you will need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for at least 24 hours. Before you are discharged, a member of the team will review your post-operative care instructions with you and the person you have chosen to drive you home.
Dr. Trupiano recommends taking 1 to 2 weeks off work and normal activities to rest. During this time, you may experience swelling, discomfort, and bruising at the surgical sites, and you will be able to manage pain with prescription and over-the-counter pain medication.

Blepharoplasty & Brow Lift FAQs
An eyelid lift can make you look 10–15 years younger, restoring a brighter, more awake, and refreshed appearance. Many patients enjoy long-lasting results, sometimes for a lifetime.
- Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is for sagging, hooded upper eyelids that may impair vision or create a tired look.
- Lower eyelid blepharoplasty corrects under-eye bags, puffiness, and deep tear troughs.
Dr. Trupiano will assess your concerns and recommend the best option during your consultation.
There is no perfect age, but most patients undergo a brow lift in their 40s to 60s when signs of aging—such as deep forehead wrinkles or sagging brows—become noticeable.
A brow lift provides long-lasting results, typically 10–15 years or more. While it doesn’t stop aging, proper skincare and a healthy lifestyle help maintain the results.
A mini brow lift is a less invasive procedure that uses smaller incisions to subtly lift the brows and smooth forehead wrinkles. It’s ideal for those with mild brow sagging.
Yes, a brow lift can elevate the brows and reduce upper eyelid heaviness, improving the appearance of mildly hooded eyes. However, for severe hooding, an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) may be necessary.
It depends on your concerns:
- A brow lift raises the brows and smooths forehead wrinkles.
- An eyelid lift removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids to reduce sagging.
Some patients benefit from combining both procedures for comprehensive rejuvenation.
A brow lift provides a long-term solution to sagging brows and forehead wrinkles, while Botox offers temporary improvement (lasting 3–6 months). If wrinkles are mild, Botox may be enough, but for significant sagging, a brow lift is more effective.
Yes! While a brow lift corrects sagging, Botox can soften dynamic wrinkles (caused by muscle movement) and help maintain results. Many patients continue Botox treatments after surgery for optimal longevity.
