Face Lift vs. Neck Lift vs. Brow Lift: Which Is Right For Me?

Face Lift vs. Neck Lift vs. Brow Lift: Which Is Right For Me?

Although it might seem obvious, there are some similarities and differences between face, neck and brow lifts that might make it difficult to determine which one is right for you. They use similar techniques and can often be performed at the same time, if you want the best results from more than one. They accomplish different things, though, and here’s some information to help you determine which one you want to pursue.

What a Facelift does

A facelift seeks to correct sagging and loss of volume that can occur in the midface as the aging process sets in. It’s most effective where excess skin is involved, which can’t be removed through non-surgical means. It can also restructure the underlying tissues to restore volume where you need it. This is accomplished through incisions that are usually placed within the hairline and goes around the ear into the lower scalp. Once the tissues are repositioned, the skin is re-draped and any excess is removed in order to tighten the profile.

What a Neck Lift does

A neck lift is an effective way to remove jowls, droopy skin, and excess fat from the lower face. The incision pattern is generally the same as that of a facelift, but doesn’t extend up to the hairline. Liposuction is sometimes used, because the neck tends to accumulate more fat than other areas of the face. Once again, the skin is tightened to create a more structured jaw and chin profile. In some cases, more extensive neck lifts can correct some wrinkles and folds in the lower face.

What a Brow Lift does

Most commonly combined with a blepharoplasty procedure, a brow lift corrects heavy sagging around the eyes, brow, and forehead. Often, hooded eyes can be caused by heavy, excess skin that pushes down on the brows, causing the face to appear aged, tired, and angry. These procedures can be less invasive due to the use of an endoscope, or thin tube with a camera at the end, which requires a smaller incision. These are usually placed in and around the hairline.

These three procedures are effective ways to restore and rejuvenate the facial profile in a way that can be easily customized to your unique anatomy and aesthetic needs.
