Look and Feel Your Best with Michigan's Preferred Board Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon
If you want a more youthful looking face with less wrinkles and a tighter appearance, a facelift could be for you. Also called a rhytidectomy, a board-certified surgeon will perform the procedure that erases years of aging, leaving your face looking youthful and smoother.
There are many reasons why you lose the youthful-looking shape of your face besides aging. It can be due to genetics, gravity, your environment and stress.
Facelifts aren’t only sought by women. The American Society Board of Plastic Surgeons reports that in 2015, 10% of all facelifts were performed on men.
A facelift is a surgical procedure that corrects noticeable signs of aging in the face and neck, such as:
Flabby skin and accumulated fatty deposits under the chin and jaw that gives you a double chin, even if you aren’t overweight
You are a good candidate for a facelift when:
To begin the procedure, you are given either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. You and your doctor will decide which is best for you.
The incision typically starts in the hairline (under the hair to hide the incisions) by your temple area. It circles the ear and stops in the lower scalp. Optionally, fat may be contoured or shifted around from the face, jowls and neck. Also, tissue is repositioned, usually in the deeper facial layers. The facial muscles are also lifted. Then, the skin is then draped back over the lifted areas, and any excess skin is removed and is sutured with fine sutures so you have the best result possible.
If the neck is included, another incision is made underneath the chin and used to improve the neck’s signs of aging.
Sutures or adhesives made for the skin are applied to close the incisions.
To improve the appearance of droopy jowls, saggy neck skin, and to remove fat that’s accumulated under the chin, a neck lift is performed.
Our advanced techniques are designed to rejuvenate the neck for natural-looking enhancement that is tailored to the unique anatomy and goals of each patient.
The incision typically starts in front of the ear lobe, comes around behind the ear, and ends in the lower scalp.
Once you are healed, most incision lines are barely visible from a facelift because they are hidden in your hair. Any other incision lines are concealed in the natural lines and curves of your face and ear.
There will be some swelling and bruising initially. As these symptoms subside, the visible improvements of your facelift will show.
Be sure the surgical incisions are not exposed to pressure or force, scratching, scraping, or chafing while healing. Don’t subject the incisions to any excessive motion as you heal. Try not to wear any clothing that has to go over your head.
Be sure to follow all of the instructions given to you by your doctor. This is essential to the success of your procedure.
The final results, that will be fully apparent after a few months, will be a restored, youthful and rejuvenated appearance that will boost your confidence.

It’s easy to be misled by boards and certifications that sound authentic, but the above two are the only ones you should consider. The American Board of Plastic Surgeons is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which approves all medical specialty boards in the United States. The ABMS does not recognize any certifications by boards that have “cosmetic surgery” in their title, so steer clear of any clinic or physician who advertises as a “board-certified cosmetic surgeon”.
The costs for facelift surgery varies. The fees will also depend on whether you choose a traditional facelift or if a neck lift is included. Your plastic surgeon’s fees depend on the physician’s experience, the type of anesthesia, the lift procedure type and the geographic area.
Facelift costs will include:
When choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon in your local area for a facelift, remember that the surgeon’s experience and certifications, and your comfort level with the doctor, are as important as the total cost of the procedure.
