Look and Feel Your Best with Michigan's Preferred Board Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon
Many women decide to undergo breast augmentation to balance out their figures. The procedure helps women to feel better about their bodies and increase their self-confidence. This popular and commonly performed procedure—also called breast enlargement or a “boob job”—will add volume and symmetry to your breasts, giving you a younger-looking appearance, firmer curves and a shapely silhouette. Many women have a breast lift performed at the same time as their breast augmentation for more satisfying results.
You may be a candidate for a breast enlargement procedure in Troy, Michigan if you have any of the following:
If you want details particular to your situation, please call us or fill out the form on our website. We will be happy to contact you and discuss your specific situation and needs.
There are several different types of breast implants you can choose, including:
Saline breast implants provide consistent shape, firmness and feel. They contain sterile salt water. Leaks rarely happen, but if the implant were to leak, the body would safely absorb the saline.
Silicone breast implants feel more like natural breasts than the saline implants. The implants are filled with silicone gel. If the implant should happen to break, the gel won’t leak into the body. The implant shell captures the gel or directs it to the breast implant pocket.
Form stable breast implants are not round, like saline or silicone implants. These implants are teardrop-shaped, have more volume at the bottom, and are tapered at the top of the breast. Form stable implants will retain their shape in the event the implant shell is broken. If the shaped implant rotates, the shape of the breast may appear unusual.
Round breast implants are the same shape all over and add to the look of fullness of the breast area. Unlike form stable implants, if the round implant shifts, the breast keeps its natural-looking shape.
Textured breast implants work by developing scar tissue. The tissue adheres to the implant, holding it in place, so it is less likely the implant will shift.
The breast augmentation procedure is performed while you are sedated. Dr. Trupiano will use either general anesthesia or intravenous sedation.
Dr. Trupiano will show you, before the procedure, where the incisions will be made. Typically, the incision areas are under the breast, in the armpit, or under the nipple. Incisions are made in places not easily seen, so any incision scar will be in an inconspicuous area.
Implants are then inserted through the incisions and placed in their proper positions. The length of the entire procedure will vary depending on the type of implant and your body type. Typically, the procedure lasts from one to two hours.
As you heal, it is time to concentrate on keeping the swelling to a minimum, as well as keeping your breasts supported. After the procedure, you will wear a support bra. You will be able to go home after your recovery at the surgical facility.
Recovery at home usually lasts from one to two days. For the first few weeks, your doctor will ask you to restrict activities. You may experience some soreness, but prescription medication can help with any pain. You will be asked to avoid any heavy lifting or severe twisting of your body. Rest as much as you can while maintaining your normal schedule. Your plastic surgeon will likely recommend you wear a support bra 24/7 for the first few weeks. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns during your recovery, call us; we are here to help.
After your breast enlargement procedure, you will notice an increase in the fullness and projection of your breasts. You will also see how your silhouette and figure are now more balanced and proportioned. Now that you can see these noticeable improvements, you can enjoy a new-found, higher level of confidence. You look more beautiful than ever.
